Description

This Aged Balsamic Blackberry Bliss Grilled Cheese combines creamy brie, juicy blackberries, and rich balsamic glaze between crispy golden sourdough slices. It is a perfectly balanced sweet and savory sandwich that feels both gourmet and comforting.

Ingredients

4 slices sourdough bread

1/2 cup fresh blackberries

1 tablespoon balsamic glaze

2 tablespoons butter, softened

4 ounces brie cheese, sliced

1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 tablespoon honey (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the blackberries in a small bowl and mash them with the balsamic glaze, keeping the mixture slightly chunky.
  2. Spread butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
  3. On the unbuttered sides of two slices, layer the brie evenly.
  4. Spoon the blackberry mixture over the brie, then sprinkle shredded mozzarella on top. Drizzle honey over the filling if desired.
  5. Place the remaining bread slices on top with the buttered sides facing outward.
  6. Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the sandwiches in the pan.
  7. Grill for 3–4 minutes per side until the bread is golden brown and crisp and the cheese has fully melted.
  8. Remove from the skillet, slice in half, and serve warm.

Notes

Swap mozzarella for fontina or white cheddar for a sharper flavor.

Add chopped walnuts or pecans for a nuttier texture.

Fresh thyme leaves add a savory twist.

Whole grain bread can be used instead of sourdough for a heartier option.

Store leftovers wrapped in foil in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

Reheat in a skillet over low heat to maintain crispness and avoid microwaving.

Frozen blackberries can be used if thawed and well drained.
