This Aged Balsamic Blackberry Bliss Grilled Cheese combines creamy brie, juicy blackberries, and rich balsamic glaze between crispy golden sourdough slices. It is a perfectly balanced sweet and savory sandwich that feels both gourmet and comforting.
Ingredients
4 slices sourdough bread
1/2 cup fresh blackberries
1 tablespoon balsamic glaze
2 tablespoons butter, softened
4 ounces brie cheese, sliced
1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tablespoon honey (optional)
Instructions
- Place the blackberries in a small bowl and mash them with the balsamic glaze, keeping the mixture slightly chunky.
- Spread butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
- On the unbuttered sides of two slices, layer the brie evenly.
- Spoon the blackberry mixture over the brie, then sprinkle shredded mozzarella on top. Drizzle honey over the filling if desired.
- Place the remaining bread slices on top with the buttered sides facing outward.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the sandwiches in the pan.
- Grill for 3–4 minutes per side until the bread is golden brown and crisp and the cheese has fully melted.
- Remove from the skillet, slice in half, and serve warm.
Notes
Swap mozzarella for fontina or white cheddar for a sharper flavor.
Add chopped walnuts or pecans for a nuttier texture.
Fresh thyme leaves add a savory twist.
Whole grain bread can be used instead of sourdough for a heartier option.
Store leftovers wrapped in foil in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
Reheat in a skillet over low heat to maintain crispness and avoid microwaving.
Frozen blackberries can be used if thawed and well drained.
