Description

A hearty and comforting baked pasta dish made with tender cheese tortellini, savory ground beef, rich marinara sauce, and topped with melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

Ingredients

20 oz refrigerated or frozen cheese tortellini

1 lb lean ground beef

1 small yellow onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

3 cups marinara sauce

1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the tortellini according to package instructions until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain excess grease if needed.
  4. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Stir in the marinara sauce and Italian seasoning. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Gently fold the cooked tortellini into the sauce until well coated.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  8. Sprinkle mozzarella evenly over the top, followed by grated Parmesan.
  9. Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.

Notes

Swap ground beef for Italian sausage for a spicier flavor or ground turkey for a lighter option.

Add sautéed spinach, mushrooms, or zucchini for extra nutrition.

Mix in ricotta cheese for extra creaminess.

Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Freeze for up to 2 months; thaw overnight before reheating.

Cook tortellini just until al dente to prevent mushy texture after baking.
