Description
A quick, savory, and ultra-cheesy twist on classic 2-minute noodles with rich French onion flavor, featuring caramelized onions, creamy cheese sauce, and fresh herbs.
Ingredients
1 packet instant noodles (discard seasoning)
1 tbsp butter
1/2 small onion, thinly sliced
1/2 cup beef broth
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/2 cup shredded cheese (Gruyère, Swiss, or cheddar)
1 tbsp heavy cream (optional, for extra creaminess)
Salt & pepper, to taste
Fresh parsley or chives, for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a small pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced onions and sauté until golden and caramelized, about 5 minutes.
- Pour in the beef broth, garlic powder, and onion powder. Simmer for 1-2 minutes to meld flavors.
- Stir in the heavy cream if using, then add half the shredded cheese and mix until smooth and creamy.
- Add the cooked noodles to the pan and toss to coat evenly with the sauce.
- Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top and let it melt before serving.
- Garnish with fresh parsley or chives and enjoy!
Notes
Cheese choice affects flavor: Gruyère for nuttiness, Swiss for mild creaminess, cheddar for sharpness.
For vegetarian version, substitute beef broth with vegetable broth.
Optional heavy cream adds extra creaminess but can be omitted.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
Reheat gently with a splash of broth or water to prevent drying out.
Try adding smoked paprika or white wine for extra depth.
