Cheesy Taco Sticks are a fun twist on taco night, featuring savory taco fillings, gooey melted cheese, and soft pizza dough. They are perfect for dipping in salsa or guacamole and are easy to make for a quick meal or snack.
Ingredients
1 package refrigerated pizza dough
1/2 lb ground beef or turkey
1 packet taco seasoning
1/4 cup water
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup chopped green onions
1/4 cup salsa (optional, for dipping)
1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing)
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef or turkey over medium heat until fully browned. Drain any excess fat, then stir in the taco seasoning and water. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened. Set aside.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface into a rectangle.
- Spread the cooked taco meat evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the taco meat.
- Carefully roll the dough into a log, starting from one side. Slice into 1-2 inch pieces.
- Arrange the slices on the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops with olive oil.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Serve with salsa or guacamole for dipping.
Notes
These taco sticks can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours before baking.
Try using different types of cheese, such as mozzarella, pepper jack, or a Mexican cheese blend.
To make them spicier, add finely chopped jalapeños or chili peppers to the filling.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10 minutes to retain the crispiness.
