Description

Fluffy crescent dough stuffed with a creamy herbed chicken filling, baked to golden perfection and topped with a rich, velvety parmesan sauce. A cozy, family-friendly comfort meal perfect for any night of the week.

Ingredients

2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or finely chopped

4 oz cream cheese, softened

2 tablespoons sour cream

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)

1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

1 tablespoon butter, melted

1/4 cup seasoned breadcrumbs

2 tablespoons butter (for sauce)

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 1/2 cups milk (whole or 2%)

1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (for sauce)

Salt and pepper to taste (for sauce)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the chicken, cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and parsley. Mix until smooth and well incorporated.
  3. Unroll the crescent dough and press the seams together to form 4 large rectangles.
  4. Spoon the chicken mixture into the center of each rectangle, then fold the dough over and pinch edges to seal, forming pillows.
  5. Place the pillows seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
  6. Bake for 18–20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
  7. While the pillows bake, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
  8. Gradually whisk in the milk and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened (about 3–4 minutes).
  9. Stir in parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Continue stirring until the cheese melts and sauce is smooth.
  10. Serve the baked pillows hot with a generous pour of creamy parmesan sauce on top.

Notes

Use rotisserie chicken for a quick shortcut.

Add red pepper flakes to the filling or sauce for a spicy variation.

Swap in puff pastry or biscuit dough for different textures.

Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Reheat in a 350°F oven for best texture; microwave also works.

Freeze baked pillows individually and reheat at 350°F when needed.
