Ingredients
2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or finely chopped
4 oz cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons sour cream
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)
1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1/4 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
2 tablespoons butter (for sauce)
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups milk (whole or 2%)
1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (for sauce)
Salt and pepper to taste (for sauce)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the chicken, cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and parsley. Mix until smooth and well incorporated.
- Unroll the crescent dough and press the seams together to form 4 large rectangles.
- Spoon the chicken mixture into the center of each rectangle, then fold the dough over and pinch edges to seal, forming pillows.
- Place the pillows seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
- Bake for 18–20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
- While the pillows bake, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in the milk and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened (about 3–4 minutes).
- Stir in parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Continue stirring until the cheese melts and sauce is smooth.
- Serve the baked pillows hot with a generous pour of creamy parmesan sauce on top.
Notes
Use rotisserie chicken for a quick shortcut.
Add red pepper flakes to the filling or sauce for a spicy variation.
Swap in puff pastry or biscuit dough for different textures.
Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Reheat in a 350°F oven for best texture; microwave also works.
Freeze baked pillows individually and reheat at 350°F when needed.
