This Cinnamon Apple Bread is a moist, spiced quick bread filled with tender apple chunks and a sweet cinnamon swirl. With an optional streusel topping, it’s perfect for fall or whenever you crave something cozy and comforting.
Ingredients
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
2 large eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 cup whole milk
1 1/2 cups peeled and chopped apples (such as Honeycrisp or Fuji)
For the Cinnamon Sugar Swirl:
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
For the Streusel Topping (Optional):
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cubed
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Start and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chopped apples.
- In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon sugar swirl ingredients (sugar and cinnamon).
- Pour half the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar over it. Add the remaining batter and top with the rest of the cinnamon sugar. Swirl gently with a knife.
- To make the optional streusel, combine flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cut in the cold butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over the batter.
- Bake for 55–65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Tent with foil if the top browns too quickly.
- Cool the loaf in the pan for 10–15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Use Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Granny Smith apples for the best texture and flavor.
Add chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans for extra texture.
Wrap and freeze individual slices for a quick future treat.
A light vanilla glaze can be drizzled over the cooled loaf for a dessert-style twist.
Dairy-free substitutions like almond milk and vegan butter work well.
