Description

Deliciously soft and gooey cinnamon roll-inspired French toast roll-ups, perfect for a sweet breakfast treat or brunch indulgence. These easy-to-make roll-ups combine warm cinnamon and sugar flavors with a golden crisp exterior and a soft, fluffy inside.

Ingredients

6 slices of white bread, crusts removed

2 large eggs

1/4 cup milk (any kind)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon butter

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

1/2 cup cream cheese, softened

2 tablespoons powdered sugar (for cream cheese filling)

Optional: maple syrup or glaze for serving

Instructions

  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  2. Flatten each slice of bread with a rolling pin to make it easier to roll.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon.
  4. Spread a thin layer of cream cheese on each flattened bread slice, then sprinkle evenly with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  5. Carefully roll up each slice tightly, sealing the edges by pinching slightly.
  6. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  7. Dip each roll-up into the egg mixture, ensuring it is fully coated, then place seam side down in the skillet.
  8. Cook the roll-ups for about 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Remove from the skillet and let cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with maple syrup or glaze if desired.

Notes

You can add chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts inside the roll-ups for extra crunch.

Swap white bread for whole wheat or brioche for different texture and flavor.

Add raisins or mini chocolate chips inside before rolling for a surprise twist.

Use mascarpone or ricotta cheese instead of cream cheese for a creamier filling.

To make vegan, substitute eggs with flax egg and use dairy-free cream cheese and milk.

Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

Reheat in toaster oven or regular oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes; avoid microwaving to prevent sogginess.
