Description
Classic French Butter Cookies are delicate, buttery treats with a crisp edge and tender center. Made with just five pantry staples, they’re easy to prepare and perfect with tea or coffee, ideal for gifting or enjoying any time.
Ingredients
½ cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
½ cup powdered sugar, sifted
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sifted powdered sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
- Add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt, mixing until well incorporated.
- Gradually add the flour, mixing just until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix.
- Shape the dough into a log about 1½–2 inches in diameter, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
- Slice the chilled dough into ¼‑inch thick rounds and place them about an inch apart on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the edges just begin to turn golden.
- Remove from the oven and cool completely on a wire rack before serving or storing.
