Ingredients
1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 tablespoon sauce (such as Worcestershire or steak sauce)
4 burger buns
Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato slices, red onion, pickles, cheese, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise
Instructions
- Place the ground beef in a large mixing bowl.
- Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and sauce to the beef.
- Gently mix the ingredients by hand or with a fork, avoiding overmixing.
- Divide the mixture into four equal portions and form into patties. Press a small indentation in the center of each patty.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the burgers for 3–4 minutes on one side without pressing down.
- Flip and cook for another 3–4 minutes, depending on desired doneness.
- If using cheese, add a slice to each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover loosely to melt.
- Toast the burger buns.
- Assemble the burgers with desired toppings and serve.
Notes
Do not overmix the beef to maintain a tender texture.
Use 80/20 ground beef for the juiciest burgers.
Form patties in advance and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before cooking.
These burgers can also be pan-seared if a grill is unavailable.
