Description

A cool, creamy, and refreshing Greek tzatziki sauce made with thick Greek yogurt, crisp cucumber, garlic, lemon, and fresh dill. Perfect as a dip, spread, or sauce for grilled dishes and Mediterranean meals.


Ingredients

1 cup full-fat Greek yogurt

1/2 large cucumber, finely grated and drained

1 clove garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

1 tablespoon fresh dill, finely chopped

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon black pepper


Instructions

  1. Grate the cucumber using the fine side of a box grater. Place it in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out as much excess moisture as possible.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, minced garlic, lemon juice, and olive oil. Stir until smooth and creamy.
  3. Add the drained cucumber, fresh dill, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until fully incorporated.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, adding more salt or lemon juice to preference.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld. Serve chilled.

Notes

Thoroughly drain the cucumber to prevent a watery sauce.

For stronger garlic flavor, add an extra half clove.

Strain the Greek yogurt for an even thicker consistency.

Fresh dill is preferred, but dried dill can be substituted in smaller amounts.

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and stir before serving.

Do not freeze, as the texture may change after thawing.
