Creamy Smoked Sausage Penne is a quick, one-pan pasta dish featuring smoky sausage, tender penne, and a rich, cheesy cream sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights or when you want something comforting and flavorful without much fuss.
Ingredients
1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
12 oz penne pasta
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup chicken broth
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
½ teaspoon paprika
Salt and pepper, to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook penne pasta until al dente, about 9–11 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced sausage and cook until browned and crispy on the edges, about 5–7 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté diced onion for 3–4 minutes until soft. Add garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the heavy cream and chicken broth. Stir well and let simmer for 3–4 minutes to thicken slightly.
- Stir in the shredded mozzarella cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
- Season with Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Return the sausage to the skillet along with the drained pasta. Toss everything together until evenly coated. Add a splash of broth or pasta water if the sauce is too thick.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
