Description
Crispy egg rolls filled with seasoned ground beef, melty cheese, and classic cheeseburger flavors, fried or air fried until golden and crunchy.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1/2 small onion, finely diced
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or chopped American cheese
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon mustard
12 egg roll wrappers
Vegetable or canola oil for frying (about 1 1/2–2 inches deep)
Optional: diced pickles
Optional: crumbled bacon
Optional: hot sauce or diced jalapeños
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the ground beef with the diced onion until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in garlic powder, ketchup, mustard, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Stir in shredded cheese and any optional add-ins.
- Place an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface in a diamond shape. Spoon 2–3 tablespoons of filling into the center. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, fold in the sides, and roll tightly. Seal the top corner with water. Repeat with remaining wrappers.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry egg rolls in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
- For air frying, brush egg rolls lightly with oil and cook at 390°F (200°C) for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- For baking, brush lightly with oil and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15–18 minutes, flipping halfway through.
Notes
Do not overfill the wrappers to prevent bursting during cooking.
Seal edges tightly with water to avoid leaks.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheat in oven or air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 5–8 minutes to restore crispiness.
Freeze assembled uncooked egg rolls for up to 2 months and fry directly from frozen, adding extra cooking time.
