Description
These Double Crunch Honey Garlic Chicken Breasts are a perfect blend of crispy, tender, and savory-sweet flavors, featuring a crispy breadcrumb coating and a delicious honey garlic sauce. Ideal for family dinners or special occasions.
Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 egg, beaten
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
1/4 cup honey
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- In another shallow bowl, beat the egg.
- In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and panko.
- Dredge each chicken breast first in the flour mixture, then dip it in the beaten egg, and finally coat it with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing the breadcrumbs firmly onto the chicken.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the chicken breasts and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Transfer the chicken to a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- While the chicken bakes, prepare the honey garlic sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the honey, soy sauce, garlic, and rice vinegar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. If you want a thicker sauce, whisk in the cornstarch mixture and cook for 1-2 minutes until thickened.
- Once the chicken is done baking, remove it from the oven and drizzle the honey garlic sauce over the top. Serve immediately.
Notes
For a spicy kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the honey garlic sauce.
Use seasoned breadcrumbs for an extra flavor boost instead of plain panko.
This recipe can also be made with chicken thighs or pork chops for variation.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. Reheat in the oven to retain the crispy texture.
Substitute gluten-free breadcrumbs and flour to make the recipe gluten-free.
