Description

These Easy Caramel Pecan Turtle Bars feature a buttery shortbread crust, gooey caramel, crunchy pecans, and smooth chocolate, creating the perfect sweet and salty treat.

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup powdered sugar

1/2 cup butter, softened

1/2 cup caramel sauce

1 cup pecan halves

1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour and powdered sugar. Add the softened butter and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Press the dough into the bottom of an 8×8-inch baking dish, creating an even layer.
  4. Bake the crust for 15-18 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  5. While the crust is baking, heat the caramel sauce in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth.
  6. Once the crust is done, remove it from the oven and pour the caramel sauce evenly over the hot crust.
  7. Sprinkle the pecan halves on top of the caramel, then return the dish to the oven for an additional 5 minutes.
  8. After baking, remove from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the warm caramel and pecans. Let them sit for a few minutes to melt, then spread the melted chocolate evenly over the top.
  9. Let the bars cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

If you prefer a different nut, you can swap the pecans for walnuts, almonds, or even macadamia nuts.

For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips instead of milk chocolate.

Drizzle additional caramel sauce on top after adding the chocolate for an extra decadent touch.

Bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4-5 days or refrigerated for up to a week.

To freeze, wrap the bars tightly in plastic wrap and place them in an airtight container. They’ll stay fresh for up to 3 months in the freezer.
