Description
A quick and budget-friendly garlic bread recipe using everyday sandwich bread, butter, garlic, and optional cheese. Perfect as a side dish or snack, made in under 15 minutes with pantry staples.
Ingredients
8 slices sandwich bread
1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder)
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with garlic, parsley, and salt until well combined.
- Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over each slice of sandwich bread.
- If making cheesy garlic bread, sprinkle shredded cheese on top of each slice.
- Place the slices on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 8–10 minutes, until the edges are golden and crisp.
- For extra crunch, broil during the last 1–2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
- Serve warm straight from the oven.
Notes
Use garlic powder if fresh garlic isn’t available.
Add red pepper flakes or chili powder for a spicy version.
Include Italian seasoning or rosemary for more flavor depth.
Make it vegan with plant-based butter and cheese or skip cheese entirely.
Cut into strips after baking to make garlic toast sticks for dipping.
Store leftovers in the fridge up to 3 days in an airtight container.
Reheat in oven or toaster oven at 350°F (175°C) for best texture.
Freeze unbaked slices and bake straight from freezer at 375°F for 10–12 minutes.
