Description

A Full English Breakfast is a hearty and comforting traditional British meal featuring sausages, eggs, bacon, baked beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, and toast. Perfect for a cozy brunch or a satisfying start to the day.


Ingredients

2 large eggs

2 pork sausages

2 slices of back bacon

1/2 cup canned baked beans

1 tomato, halved

1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced

2 slices of bread (for toasting)

2 tsp butter (for toast)

2 tbsp oil or butter (for frying)

Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the sausages and cook for 10–12 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through.
  2. Push the sausages to one side of the pan and add the bacon. Fry each slice for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
  3. Remove the sausages and bacon from the pan and keep warm.
  4. Add a bit more oil if needed, then add the sliced mushrooms and halved tomato (cut side down). Cook the mushrooms for 5–6 minutes until browned and soften the tomatoes for 3–4 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Meanwhile, warm the baked beans in a small saucepan over low heat.
  6. Toast the bread slices and spread with butter.
  7. Fry the eggs in the same pan with a bit of oil or butter to your preferred doneness (e.g., sunny side up or over-easy).
  8. Arrange all components on a large plate and serve hot.

Notes

For a traditional touch, add black pudding.

Swap back bacon for streaky bacon if you prefer it crispier.

Use veggie sausages and extra mushrooms for a vegetarian version.

Grilled halloumi or sautéed spinach make tasty additions.

Toast is best fresh, but can be reheated in a toaster oven.
