This Garlic Butter Steak Bites and Mash recipe delivers rich, savory flavors with minimal effort. Juicy, seared steak bites are tossed in a buttery garlic sauce and served over creamy mashed potatoes for the ultimate comfort food dinner.
Ingredients
1.5 lb sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized cubes
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon olive oil
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
5 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (plus more for garnish)
1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
2 lb Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 cup whole milk or heavy cream (more as needed)
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the potatoes and cook for 15 to 20 minutes, until fork-tender.
- Drain the potatoes, then mash with butter and milk until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper. Cover and keep warm.
- Pat the steak cubes dry and season with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika if using.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak in a single layer and sear undisturbed for 2 to 3 minutes. Flip and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until browned and juicy. Work in batches if needed.
- Reduce heat to medium. Add butter and garlic to the skillet, stirring to coat the steak bites in the garlic butter. Cook for another 1 to 2 minutes, avoiding burning the garlic.
- Sprinkle with chopped parsley and remove from heat.
- Serve steak bites hot over mashed potatoes, garnished with more parsley if desired.
Notes
Use ribeye or tenderloin for even more tender steak bites.
Swap mashed potatoes with cauliflower mash for a low-carb version.
Add chili flakes to the garlic butter for heat.
