Description

These Grinch-Themed Jello Shots are a festive, alcohol-free treat made with cherry and green apple (or lime) gelatin, lemon-lime soda, and a heart-shaped red center for a whimsical, kid-friendly holiday dessert.

Ingredients

1 box (3 oz) cherry-flavored gelatin

1 cup boiling water (for red layer)

1/4 cup cold water (for red layer)

1/4 cup chilled lemon-lime soda (for red layer)

1 box (3.94 oz) green apple or lime-flavored gelatin

1 1/2 cups boiling water (for green layer)

3/4 cup cold water (for green layer)

3/4 cup chilled lemon-lime soda (for green layer)

Non-stick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Lightly spray a small 5×5 inch dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a heatproof bowl, whisk cherry gelatin with 1 cup boiling water until fully dissolved.
  3. Stir in 1/4 cup cold water and 1/4 cup chilled lemon-lime soda.
  4. Pour red gelatin mixture into the prepared dish about 1 inch deep and refrigerate for 2–3 hours or until fully set.
  5. Once set, loosen edges, invert onto a cutting board, and use a small heart-shaped cutter to cut red hearts. Refrigerate the hearts while preparing the next layer.
  6. Whisk green gelatin with 1 1/2 cups boiling water until dissolved.
  7. Add 3/4 cup cold water and 3/4 cup chilled lemon-lime soda. Let the mixture cool to room temperature.
  8. Arrange 20 (2-oz) shot glasses or small cups on a tray and place one red heart in the center of each.
  9. Carefully pour cooled green gelatin around each heart, filling each glass to the top while keeping the heart visible.
  10. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours until fully set, then serve chilled.

Notes

Can be made up to 2 days in advance and stored covered in the fridge.

Do not freeze; it affects the texture.

To make it alcoholic, substitute soda with vodka or rum.

Try different shapes like stars or trees if heart cutter is unavailable.

Top with whipped cream or edible glitter for extra flair.
