Description
A silky, rich chocolate mousse made with tender apples and dark chocolate for a naturally sweet and lighter dessert. Smooth, creamy, and easy to prepare with just a few simple ingredients.
Ingredients
8 oz dark chocolate, chopped
4 medium sweet apples, peeled, cored, and diced
1/4 cup water
Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Add diced apples and water to a small saucepan. Cover and cook over medium heat until simmering.
- Reduce heat to low and steam for about 20 minutes until apples are very soft.
- Drain apples thoroughly and let cool slightly.
- Melt the chopped dark chocolate gently in the microwave in short bursts or over a double boiler until smooth.
- Transfer cooked apples, melted chocolate, and salt to a blender or food processor.
- Blend until completely smooth and creamy, scraping down sides as needed.
- Spoon mousse into serving glasses or bowls.
- Chill for at least 1 hour before serving for best texture.
Notes
Use extra-dark chocolate for a more intense flavor or lower cocoa percentage for a sweeter taste.
Add a splash of vanilla extract or a pinch of cinnamon for extra warmth.
Top with shaved chocolate, berries, or coconut whipped cream for serving.
Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Let sit at room temperature briefly if mousse becomes too firm.
Freezing is possible but may slightly affect texture.
