Description
A wholesome homemade chicken, rice, and vegetable dog food recipe made with lean protein, whole grains, and nutritious vegetables for a balanced and nourishing meal.
Ingredients
1 ½ pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 cup brown rice
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup carrots, finely diced
1 cup green beans, chopped
½ cup peas (fresh or frozen)
½ cup pumpkin puree (plain, not pie filling)
3 cups water
Instructions
- Rinse the brown rice thoroughly under cold water to remove excess starch.
- In a large pot, combine the rice and water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for about 15 minutes until tender.
- While the rice cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook until fully cooked, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F with no pink remaining.
- Remove the chicken from the skillet and shred into small, bite-sized pieces.
- In the same skillet, add carrots, green beans, and peas. Sauté for 5–7 minutes until tender.
- Stir the shredded chicken and cooked rice into the vegetables.
- Add pumpkin puree and mix until everything is evenly combined.
- Allow the mixture to cool completely before serving.
