These Lemon Basil Salmon Rolls are a delightful and healthy way to enjoy salmon. Packed with fresh basil, tangy lemon, and a creamy filling, they are both light and flavorful.
Ingredients
4 salmon fillets, skinless
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional)
Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place the salmon fillets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Drizzle the olive oil and lemon juice over the salmon fillets. Sprinkle with lemon zest, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- In a small bowl, mix the cream cheese with chopped fresh basil until well combined.
- Spread a generous amount of the basil cream cheese mixture over the top of each salmon fillet.
- Roll up each salmon fillet tightly and secure with toothpicks.
- Optionally, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top for a bit of crunch.
- Bake the salmon rolls in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
- Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
Notes
For a lighter alternative to cream cheese, use Greek yogurt or ricotta cheese.
Frozen salmon fillets can be used, but thaw them completely before cooking.
Breadcrumbs are optional; omit or use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free version.
Prepare the salmon rolls up to a day ahead and refrigerate until ready to bake.
