Ingredients

13 oz ready-rolled puff pastry

1/2 cup lemon curd

5 oz full-fat cream cheese

3 tbsp powdered sugar

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tbsp cornstarch

1 medium egg, lightly beaten


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Place the puff pastry on the tray and lightly score it into thirds lengthwise.
  3. Cut diagonal strips along both outer sections, about 3/4 to 1 inch wide, and trim top corners.
  4. Spread the lemon curd evenly down the center section.
  5. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and cornstarch until smooth.
  6. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the lemon curd.
  7. Fold strips over the filling alternately from each side to create a braid.
  8. Tuck and seal the ends of the pastry.
  9. Brush the braid with beaten egg.
  10. Bake for 17 to 22 minutes until golden and puffed.
  11. Cool for about 30 minutes before slicing and serving.

Add fresh berries like blueberries or raspberries for extra flavor.

Substitute lemon curd with orange curd for a sweeter variation.
