2 cups raw pecan halves
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
1 tablespoon orange zest
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
1 tablespoon brown sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix maple syrup, orange zest, cinnamon, ginger, salt, cayenne pepper (if using), and brown sugar into a glaze.
- Add pecans and stir to coat evenly.
- Spread pecans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, stirring once halfway through for even browning.
- Let pecans cool completely on the tray to crisp up.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
Notes
Swap orange zest with lemon zest for a different citrus flavor.
Reduce brown sugar and add more cayenne for a savory kick.
Use pumpkin spice instead of cinnamon and ginger for a fall twist.
Sprinkle sesame seeds before baking for extra crunch.
To refresh pecans, bake at 300°F for 5–7 minutes and cool completely before storing.
