Description

Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, these Parmesan Garlic Potato Balls are the ultimate savory appetizer packed with bold garlic flavor, rich Parmesan cheese, and a golden crunchy coating.

Ingredients

3 cups mashed potatoes (cooled)

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

2 large eggs

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 1/2 cups Italian-style breadcrumbs

Oil for frying (or cooking spray for baking)

Instructions

  1. Place cooled mashed potatoes in a large bowl. Add Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, parsley, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until fully combined.
  2. Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll into compact balls. Repeat until all mixture is used.
  3. Prepare three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.
  4. Roll each ball in flour, dip into beaten eggs, then coat evenly with breadcrumbs.
  5. To fry: Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  6. To bake: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Place balls on a lined baking sheet, spray lightly with cooking spray, and bake for 18–22 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crisp.
  7. Serve hot with marinara, ranch, or garlic aioli.

Notes

Ensure mashed potatoes are fully cooled before mixing to prevent balls from falling apart.

For extra cheesiness, add small cubes of mozzarella in the center before shaping.

For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free flour and breadcrumbs.

Freeze coated balls individually before transferring to a freezer bag for longer storage.

Reheat in oven or air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for best crispiness.
