Description

A comforting and easy-to-make cheese biscuit loaf inspired by Red Lobster’s famous biscuits, featuring a golden crust and rich cheddar flavor, perfect for slicing and sharing alongside meals.

Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

3/4 cup whole milk

1 large egg

2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)

1/4 teaspoon dried parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Add the cold cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk the milk and egg together, then pour into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined—don’t overmix to keep the loaf tender.
  6. Transfer the dough to the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove from the oven and immediately brush the top with melted butter.
  9. Sprinkle dried parsley over the top if using, and let the loaf cool for a few minutes before slicing.

Notes

For a spicier twist, add cayenne pepper or diced jalapeños to the dough.

Swap sharp cheddar for a cheddar and Monterey Jack blend for a milder flavor.

Add cooked bacon bits or finely chopped green onions for extra texture.

Use buttermilk instead of whole milk for a tangier biscuit loaf.

Substitute all-purpose flour with gluten-free baking mix to make it gluten-free, adjusting liquids as needed.

Store leftovers at room temperature up to 2 days or freeze sliced for up to 3 months.

Reheat by microwaving briefly or toasting slices in the oven for crispiness.
