Description
A comforting and hearty casserole twist on the classic Sloppy Joe sandwich, made with savory ground beef, tangy sauce, cheddar cheese, and fluffy biscuit pieces baked to golden perfection.
Ingredients
1 lb lean ground beef
1 small onion, diced
1 (15 oz) can Sloppy Joe sauce
1 (16.3 oz) can refrigerated biscuits
1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
½ teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the Sloppy Joe sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 2–3 minutes to blend the flavors.
- Cut the refrigerated biscuits into quarters and gently fold them into the meat mixture until evenly coated.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden and cooked through.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired and serve warm.
Notes
Swap cheddar cheese with pepper jack or Mexican blend for added spice.
Add chopped bell peppers or mushrooms for extra vegetables.
Use ground turkey or plant-based crumbles as a meat alternative.
Stir in cream cheese to make the casserole creamier.
Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
