Description

A quick and flavorful skillet chicken recipe coated in a sticky, sweet, and savory brown sugar garlic glaze. Ready in just 30 minutes, this dish delivers bold, caramelized flavor perfect for an easy weeknight dinner.


Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts

3 tablespoons brown sugar (light or dark)

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Optional: chopped green onions or sesame seeds for garnish


Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, minced garlic, soy sauce, olive oil, vinegar, and black pepper until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Place the chicken in a shallow dish or zip-top bag and pour the marinade over it. Toss to coat evenly and marinate for at least 15 minutes (or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator).
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade and discard excess marinade.
  4. Cook the chicken for 6–7 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and caramelized.
  5. If desired, pour remaining marinade into the skillet and cook for 1–2 minutes until slightly thickened, spooning it over the chicken.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds and serve hot.

Notes

Do not overcook chicken breasts to prevent dryness.

For extra heat, add a splash of hot sauce to the marinade.

Honey can be substituted for brown sugar for a different sweetness profile.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days.

Reheat gently in a skillet with a splash of water to maintain moisture.
