Description
A quick and flavorful skillet chicken recipe coated in a sticky, sweet, and savory brown sugar garlic glaze. Ready in just 30 minutes, this dish delivers bold, caramelized flavor perfect for an easy weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
3 tablespoons brown sugar (light or dark)
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Optional: chopped green onions or sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, minced garlic, soy sauce, olive oil, vinegar, and black pepper until the sugar dissolves.
- Place the chicken in a shallow dish or zip-top bag and pour the marinade over it. Toss to coat evenly and marinate for at least 15 minutes (or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator).
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade and discard excess marinade.
- Cook the chicken for 6–7 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and caramelized.
- If desired, pour remaining marinade into the skillet and cook for 1–2 minutes until slightly thickened, spooning it over the chicken.
- Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds and serve hot.
Notes
Do not overcook chicken breasts to prevent dryness.
For extra heat, add a splash of hot sauce to the marinade.
Honey can be substituted for brown sugar for a different sweetness profile.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days.
Reheat gently in a skillet with a splash of water to maintain moisture.
