Description
These Thai Basil Beef Rolls combine savory ground beef with fragrant Thai basil wrapped in tender rice paper for a fresh, vibrant meal. Served with sweet chili sauce, they are light yet satisfying and perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
12 rice paper wrappers
1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef. Cook for 6–8 minutes, breaking it apart with a spoon, until fully browned and cooked through.
- Drain any excess grease from the skillet. Stir in the soy sauce and cook for another 1–2 minutes to allow the flavors to absorb. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Fill a wide shallow bowl with warm water. Dip one rice paper wrapper into the water for 10–15 seconds until softened but still slightly firm.
- Lay the softened wrapper flat on a clean surface. Place a spoonful of the beef mixture on the lower third of the wrapper and top with several Thai basil leaves.
- Fold the sides inward over the filling, then roll tightly from the bottom up, similar to a burrito, sealing completely.
- Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling. Serve immediately with sweet chili sauce for dipping.
Notes
Substitute ground chicken or turkey for a lighter option.
Add shredded carrots or thinly sliced cucumbers for extra crunch.
Mix in a little sriracha for added heat.
Store assembled rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days with a damp paper towel to prevent drying.
For gluten-free, use tamari or gluten-free soy sauce and ensure the sweet chili sauce is gluten-free.
