Description

Soft, festive, and dusted with powdered sugar, these Valentine Crinkle Cookies are perfect for celebrating love with their pretty pink hue and melt-in-your-mouth texture.


Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

¼ teaspoon salt

Red or pink food coloring (gel preferred)

½ cup powdered sugar, for rolling


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the softened butter and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until a dough forms.
  6. Add a few drops of red or pink gel food coloring and mix until desired color is reached.
  7. Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
  8. Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions and roll them into balls.
  9. Roll each dough ball in powdered sugar until fully coated.
  10. Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.
  11. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until tops are crackled and edges are set.
  12. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Add heart-shaped sprinkles after baking for extra flair.

Replace some vanilla with almond extract for a different flavor.

Add 2 tablespoons cocoa powder for a chocolate version.

Use strawberry extract for a fruity variation.

Change food coloring for different holidays or themes.
