Description

Blueberry Tiramisu is a creamy, fruity twist on the classic Italian dessert, featuring layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers, fluffy mascarpone cream, and homemade sweet-tart blueberry sauce. This elegant no-bake dessert is perfect for summer gatherings, celebrations, and make-ahead entertaining.

Ingredients

For the Blueberry Sauce:

2 cups fresh blueberries

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon lemon zest

1 tablespoon water

For the Mascarpone Cream:

8 oz mascarpone cheese, softened

1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream, cold

1/3 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For Assembly and Garnish:

1 cup brewed coffee, cooled

24 ladyfinger biscuits

Fresh blueberries, for garnish

Fresh mint leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the blueberry sauce: Combine the blueberries, granulated sugar, lemon juice, lemon zest, and water in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the blueberries soften and the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from the heat and allow to cool completely.
  2. Whip the cream: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cold heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Avoid overwhipping to maintain a light, fluffy texture.
  3. Prepare the mascarpone filling: In a separate bowl, gently stir the softened mascarpone cheese until smooth. Gradually fold in the whipped cream using a spatula until fully combined and airy.
  4. Dip the ladyfingers: Pour the cooled brewed coffee into a shallow bowl. Briefly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee, turning quickly to moisten both sides without making the biscuits soggy.
  5. Assemble the first layer: Arrange a single layer of coffee-soaked ladyfingers across the bottom of an 8-inch square serving dish. Spread half of the mascarpone cream evenly over the biscuits, then spoon half of the cooled blueberry sauce over the cream.
  6. Add the second layer: Arrange another layer of coffee-soaked ladyfingers over the blueberry sauce. Spread the remaining mascarpone cream evenly on top, followed by the remaining blueberry sauce. Gently swirl the sauce for a marbled appearance.
  7. Chill the tiramisu: Cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight, until the layers are set and the ladyfingers have softened.
  8. Garnish and serve: Just before serving, decorate with fresh blueberries and mint leaves. Slice into 8 portions and serve chilled.

Notes

Make ahead: Prepare the tiramisu the night before serving for the best flavor and texture. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours before slicing.

Frozen blueberries: Frozen blueberries can replace fresh blueberries in the sauce. Cook directly from frozen, allowing extra time for the excess liquid to reduce.

Prevent soggy layers: Dip ladyfingers very briefly into the cooled coffee and allow the blueberry sauce to cool completely before assembling.

Lemon variation: Add extra lemon zest to the mascarpone cream for a brighter citrus flavor.

Mixed berry variation: Replace some of the blueberries with fresh strawberries for a sweeter, colorful berry sauce.

Coffee-free option: Replace the brewed coffee with cooled milk or light blueberry syrup for dipping the ladyfingers.

White chocolate variation: Fold a small amount of cooled, melted white chocolate into the mascarpone mixture for extra sweetness and richness.

Mascarpone substitute: Full-fat cream cheese can replace mascarpone, although the filling will have a slightly tangier flavor.

Individual servings: Assemble the tiramisu in individual dessert glasses for an elegant party presentation.

Storage: Keep leftovers tightly covered in the refrigerator and enjoy within 2–3 days.

Freezing: Freeze individual portions in airtight, freezer-safe containers for up to 1 month for best quality. Add fresh garnishes after thawing.

Thawing: Thaw frozen portions overnight in the refrigerator. Avoid thawing at room temperature.

Serving: Serve chilled directly from the refrigerator. This dessert does not require reheating.
