Ingredients

200g dark chocolate

150g butter

150g sugar

4 eggs

100g flour

200ml cream

100g hazelnuts, chopped

50g cocoa powder

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

200g chocolate ganache

100g chocolate balls

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a cake tin.
  2. Melt the dark chocolate and butter together until smooth, then allow the mixture to cool slightly.
  3. Whisk together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Sift in the flour and cocoa powder and mix until fully combined.
  5. Fold the melted chocolate mixture into the batter until smooth.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin and bake for about 25 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Allow the cake to cool completely.
  8. Spread the cream evenly over the cooled cake.
  9. Sprinkle the chopped hazelnuts over the cream.
  10. Cover with the chocolate ganache and smooth the surface.
  11. Decorate with the chocolate balls.
  12. Chill for 2 hours before slicing and serving.

Notes

Use milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate for a sweeter flavor.

Add roasted whole hazelnuts for extra crunch and decoration.

Layer fresh raspberries or sliced strawberries beneath the cream for a fruity variation.

Mix hazelnut spread into the ganache for a richer flavor.

Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Freeze individual slices for up to 2 months and thaw overnight in the refrigerator.

Let the cake sit at room temperature for 15 to 20 minutes before serving for the best texture.
