Description

This easy no-bake Chocolate Pudding Pie features a buttery graham cracker crust layered with silky chocolate pudding, fluffy chocolate mousse, creamy whipped topping, and rich chocolate shavings. With just five ingredients and 10 minutes of preparation, it’s the perfect make-ahead dessert for any occasion.

Ingredients

5.85 ounces instant chocolate pudding mix

1 3/4 cups cold 2% milk

1 pre-made 9-inch graham cracker pie crust

8 ounces Cool Whip, thawed

1 regular-size Hershey’s Chocolate Bar, shaved

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk. Beat with a handheld mixer on low speed for approximately 2 minutes until thick and smooth.
  2. Allow the pudding to rest for about 3 minutes to thicken further.
  3. Spoon 1 1/2 cups of the prepared chocolate pudding into the graham cracker pie crust. Spread evenly using the back of a spoon or an offset spatula.
  4. Add 1 cup of thawed Cool Whip to the remaining chocolate pudding. Gently fold together until the mixture becomes light, fluffy, and evenly combined.
  5. Carefully spread the chocolate mousse mixture over the pudding layer, keeping the layers distinct.
  6. Spread the remaining Cool Whip evenly over the chocolate mousse, covering the entire surface. Create decorative swirls if desired.
  7. Use a vegetable peeler or grater to shave the Hershey’s Chocolate Bar into curls or small pieces. Sprinkle the chocolate shavings evenly over the whipped topping.
  8. Refrigerate the assembled pie, uncovered, for at least 4 hours or overnight until completely set.
  9. Slice the chilled pie into 6 servings using a sharp knife, wiping the blade between cuts for clean slices. Serve cold and enjoy.

Notes

For the best texture and cleanest slices, refrigerate the pie overnight before serving.

Use instant chocolate pudding mix rather than cook-and-serve pudding to ensure the filling sets properly.

For an Oreo variation, replace the graham cracker crust with a pre-made Oreo cookie crust.

For a peanut butter variation, spread a thin layer of creamy peanut butter over the crust before adding the pudding.

For extra chocolate flavor, add mini chocolate chips between the pudding and mousse layers.

For a mint chocolate variation, fold 1 or 2 drops of peppermint extract into the chocolate mousse mixture.

For a strawberry variation, add thinly sliced, thoroughly dried strawberries between the mousse and whipped topping layers.

Stabilized homemade whipped cream can replace Cool Whip, although the pie may not hold its shape as long.

Store leftover pie loosely covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

To freeze, allow the pie to set completely, then wrap securely in plastic wrap and aluminum foil. Freeze for up to 1 month for best quality and thaw in the refrigerator.

Do not leave the pie at room temperature for more than 2 hours.

Serve directly from the refrigerator. This dessert does not require reheating.

For clean slices, dip a sharp knife into warm water and wipe it dry between cuts.
