Description

A hearty and comforting casserole combining savory sloppy joe beef, crispy tater tots, and melted cheddar cheese. Perfect for an easy, filling family meal all baked in one dish.

Ingredients

2 lb ground beef

2 cans sloppy joe sauce

2 cups finely shredded cheddar cheese

1 bag frozen tater tots

1 cup queso dip (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a large baking dish.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned. Drain excess grease.
  3. Stir in the sloppy joe sauce and simmer for about 5 minutes until heated through.
  4. Transfer the beef mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  5. Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer over the beef mixture.
  6. Bake for 20 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top.
  8. Return to oven and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Optional: Broil for about 2 minutes for extra crispiness.
  10. Serve warm.

Notes

Add diced onions or bell peppers to the beef for extra flavor.

Use spicy sloppy joe sauce or hot sauce for added heat.

Swap cheddar with mozzarella or Monterey Jack for a different texture.

Drizzle queso on top before serving for extra richness.

Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheat in the oven at 350°F to maintain crispiness or microwave for convenience.

Freeze portions and reheat in the oven directly from frozen.
