Description

A cool and creamy Greek yogurt sauce made with fresh cucumber, garlic, dill, lemon juice, and olive oil. This classic Greek-inspired condiment is refreshing, flavorful, and perfect as a dip, spread, or accompaniment to grilled meats and vegetables.

Ingredients

2 cups Greek yogurt

1 medium cucumber, grated and drained

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

1 tablespoon fresh dill, finely chopped

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Grate the cucumber and squeeze out as much liquid as possible using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
  2. Place the Greek yogurt in a medium mixing bowl.
  3. Add the drained cucumber, minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, fresh dill, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Stir everything together until smooth and well combined.
  5. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  6. Give the tzatziki one final stir and serve chilled.

Notes

Substitute fresh mint for dill for a brighter flavor.

Add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes for mild heat.

Mix in chopped parsley for extra freshness.

Use roasted garlic for a milder garlic flavor.

Stir in crumbled feta cheese for a richer dip.

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days and stir before serving.

Do not freeze, as the yogurt may separate after thawing.

Serve chilled with pita, grilled meats, vegetables, wraps, or sandwiches.
